It has been a while since I looked, but as I recall, noise cancelling headphones work on repetitive noises, such as an airplane engine.

I believe the correct answer for me is that I didn't even realize that I was different, that others could see it but I couldn't.

Because there may be newly diagnosed spectrum-dwellers reading this and questioning themselves, I am not asexual.

Like someone else has said, if you met one person autistic person, you met one autistic person.

Oh man Halloween. Had lots of fun in college despite being an Aspie. This one Halloween I went with my son and my wife's (female) friend and her son trick-or-treating. We get to this one house and the woman is dressed up in a French maid outfit. Yes that kind of outfit. And I had to pretend like I d...

Consider uBlock Origin over Adblock for blocking ads.

I am sort of pissed, I donated to both Adblock and Adblock Plus, and one or both of them went to "acceptable ads".

Actually I would be open to "acceptable ads" if I got to choose what was acceptable or not.

My wife would cantor at her parents church, and some how I got pulled into singing in the choir after we got married and before we had kids. I thought I was good until the music director hired some professional singers. This one alto sung a solo (Favre Requiem??) so beautifully during a rehearsal, e...

I am too lazy to find exact page numbers, but as I recall from Robison's book, wanted to be something different is a common Aspie trait. It is for this reason that some Aspies make good actors and actresses (did I actually spell that right first try?). Not sure what to call it, it wasn't a date. I w...

Sorry, I should have been paying attention. You could use a hard drive enclosure to go from one of IDE/SATA to USB. If you have a desktop computer, you could (with the power off) just open up the case and connect the hard drive to one of the IDE or SATA; but if its IDE, you have to get the MASTER/SL...

Agree with others, something is surely amiss here. Can I assume that you, the parent, are footing the bill for this attending this college? There is no way in hell, with the amount my wife and I are paying for out-of-state tuition, that I would put up with crap like that with my daughter. The equiva...

A pretty good discussion of this on the Ars Technica website responses. Basically what Alex and ASPickle said. Some other info about having to inject fuel into the catalytic converter and urea aka diesel exhaust fluid. Also something about people in rural area re-chipping their diesel pickups for be...
