That these threads are starting to get old. Just now starting to get old? I thought about making fun of them by posting threads like * First thing that comes to mind when you stare at the sun for an hour? * First thing that comes to mind when you chop off your fingers? * First thing that comes to m...

So essentially what you're saying is you would happily push someone off a cliff if you knew you could get away with it, because you experience constant boredom and that would make you entertained, as you have exerted power over an individual? Or you look for people who are weaker so you can expand ...

My totally wild guess is I sometimes wonder if Trump has a mild disorder of the corpus callosum where the two brain hemispheres connect. This is because in weird way it sometimes seems like there are two 'voices' in Trump interrupting each other trying to offer different points of view. It almost s...

I think it's definitely an important piece of the puzzle, along with raising endorphins and getting rid of cortisol. A lifetime of being overly stimulated would easily lead to cortisol buildup. There are other uses for oxytocin that just might present problems in some cases. For one, it is given to...

My dog, Whiskey, had to be put down toward the end of August.

He was a big dog and still managed to live 12 years. I was only expecting him to live about 7 years considering his size.

I'm not the one taking sides, I'm just being logical and reasonable. I look at the evidence and the claims from both sides. I showed that the US is hardly a 'free' country if it's going to try and take down media that reports alternative views and facts it doesn't like. So you tried to turn it on m...

Pocahontas is a native American historical figure and a Disney movie character. First of all Native Americans are not a race!! What Trump did in calling Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" was childish and a stupid analogy, not racist or even a slur against Native Americans. In that speech he p...

He's using it to make fun of a woman who shamelessly lied about being a Native American to get into a prestigious school. Nothing racist about it. But you have to remember that these claims are coming from the same people who claimed he was racist because he was against illegal immigration. Isn't s...

In order to be 1/32th Cherokee, one of your great-great-great grandparents would have had to be Cherokee. It's quite possible for many people in the United States to be 1/32th Native American----especially if he/she is African-American; however, many white and Hispanic people could probably make th...

It was the only response I could bring myself to make at the time without going on a big long rant. I was labeled as a sociopath (antisocial personality disorder) when I was younger, and found that label to be inaccurate and damaging. While I may have difficulty with empathy and emotion, I don't me...

Coming here since the election has been especially frustrating. There seem to be more trolls and also just generally people seem to feel free now to say awful things that they would have kept to themselves before, because bigotry and awfulness have become normalized. I think they call it the Trump ...

Does having trouble with empathy make one a sociopath? I can see the argument that a sociopath probably can't empathize with others, but not the other way around.

I usually feel empathy when I have experienced something another person has experienced. Unless I've experienced it, I'm frequently limited to "sympathy." Emotions can be hard to read. I frequently can't tell when someone is getting mad until they finally explode and then when they do exp...
