I know I do stuff like that sometimes. I've had to try to become comfortable with just saying "Oops, sorry!" And then moving on.

It reads as though you have made reasonable efforts at altering things so that they might work better. If I correctly understand the results have not been satisfactory, then it could be one is down to either adjusting expectations or making difficult choices.

His behavior reminds me of myself at that age. I was in a 12-ish year relationship at the time.

In my case, my underlying drivers turned out to be: 1) midlife transition, and 2) alcoholism. More the later than the former.

Yep. I think we both know how very, very common that situation is. I had a 12 year relationship end when I got sober.
