Unfortunatly the Autism Rights Movement has been taken over by a very vocal minority, steering it into identity politics that will only divide people. Autism is not like a nationality, flag or football team, its a serious neurological disorder that can destroy lives, by cutting them short or at leas... |

"Ableism is in part defined as thinking the disabled are inferior. If you are working to prevent autism you are inherently thinking autistics are inferior" But autism is a disability for most individuals. Leaving aside on average shorter life expectancy and on average poorer mental & p... |

Preventing disabilities from occuring is not ableism, if that was the case it would automatically apply to all doctors & medical professionals.

"Many of us not wanting a cure or prenatal genetic research" I respect the view of those against abortion however just wanting "assistive research" is not normally how ND extremists commonly word their views. I feel ND started out with honourable intentions which later got twiste... |

You have good reason to be suspicious of the ND movement. Firstly many of the extremists in the ND movement want all autism research that may help many lead an independent life banned. Research that helped many with ADHD lead a normal life through new drugs. Secondly such a thing would lead to the h... |

Its probably silly to use a movie as an example but in rain man the autistic character is asked about the many books he's read, but cannot answer (maybe due to memory)
Is this a real symptom? do those with asd read well but are unable to recall the story or explain it? |

The videos were interesting and the points they raise. I support the rights of those who have disabilities and like most am happy to see them overcome then to acheive great things like in the para olympics for example. I just feel neuro diversity goes a step too far in trying to block science resear... |

Jason: im not a fan of neuro diversity i believe its just dangerous bs. Dangerous because it downplays peoples struggles who have more serious ability problems. We also live in a world where governments with budget constraints are always looking to cut financial assistance / welfare. Its the perfect... |

Im guessing theres different therapy for those who have had part of their tongue removed after cancer.
Need to speak again after a brain injury or just want to speak the queen's english?
Just dont know what type is used on asd toddlers to improve their speech? |

Hi I don’t know much about speech therapy, just wondering what type (if there is a type) of speech therapy is used with verbal toddlers with ASD? What I’m getting at is reducing echolalia and boosting Episodic memory skills. I’m guessing the therapy has many different branches just wondering which o... |

Thanks for relying
So where does "little professor syndrome" come into it? With some sites claiming that is the symptom of aspergers?
Maybe theres multiple forms of aspergers with some talking kids that are not so gifted? |
