I want to overcome this barrior which is called my natural human body. There are too many requirments too be human.
You have to eat, sleep, have sex, and don't forget
the worst thing of all. Emotions natural chemicals in the brain
thast just seemed f..ck up when they want. and too make things worse. Look at all the diseases the human body is sesetable to.
Cancer. Aids, And millions of others. It's too much work!
And in the end the body dies out anyway! The flesh is truly weak.
I think my brain deserves better than this body. People have called me a genious! I want my precious brain to outlast this feeble flesh. I know most people might think this may be a silly idead fair enough. I am no good at being human. Especially with this bulls..t thing called love! I am tired of being hurt (well that's another story.)

I want to become a cyborg! I want to freeze myself for a few hundred years. Then they can thaw me out. Cut my skull open
harvest my brain. And place it in a special compartment (one of those you see in sci-fi movies.) than some how get my brain up and running and controlling my new metal fortress.
I dont want to shoot lasers from my arms or launch nukes from my chest or anything of the likes. Just think no more needs!

sleeping, eating cancer,diseases, emotions!
all elimanated!! !

Freedom Immortality!

I'm not sure which OS I would run though, linux is like the Aspergers of Operating systems - not compatible with much.

Windows is the Imune Defficiancy syndrome for operating systems, you'll get sick quite often.. just be sure to stay up on your shots.

Mac is the group that issolates themselves from everyone else because there angry at the world of OSs for some reason.

While I would not become a 'Cyberman' style cyborg (no emotions or sex), the immortality bit appeals to me. I was thinking more along the lines of a 'Ghost in the Shell' cyborg.

I want to become a shape shifting reptilian alien. I guess this has nothing to do with your post. But sometimes they prevent me from sleeping, they're in my head. Well I think about how neat it would be if I was one, when trying to sleep.

for some odd reason my avator fits in with this thread perfectly, me as a cyborg, id probably become a door closer. strong, repeating motion, they dont ask for much accept to be oiled, i would be out of the way, nobody bothering me, not being accused of having an attitude (because aspies have a flat voice, my dad thinks im irritated or have a bad influence talking to me on the computer) the only bad thing about transforming into a closer, i cant walk, i just do is open and close door and put up with wild kids hanging from my arm or trying to slam door shut, or locksmiths/custodians replacing me with a new closer every about 10 years.

where did you get a door closer? whoa! cool.

I also think of myself as a robot... I've been using for months images of robots in my avatars in MSNmessenger, getting many people to ask "what's the deal with all the robots images?".

I like being one.

the closer was found in may 2001 in the mud under an outdoor workbech at my dad's friend's house, he had recovered it from a dumpster at work when a rip off door company thought it was cute to replace the (still good) door closers with new ones, so i had seen it there, my eyes lit up with the i want it now look, my dad's friend then said "please, take it its yours i dont need it!" i then was like ohh cool thanks, first closer with an arm,(i now have 3 with arms all differant brands and ages)

it has came in handy for me, i use it for handwriting to help neaten up the letters, (you do not want to see my writing, bad enough the UPS man has to!)

its also my msn messenger avvie as well created the avator with my webcam it shows 2 of my interes(computers and door closers) and makes a perfect joke about symantec utilties(norton) also the brand name of the closer is norton, 1600 series to be exact.

sorry if went into great deatil there or off subject, so yea thats basically how i got my closer

Or... a self-oiling machine?

Image

"What does it do?"
"Well, it oils itself."
"I know, but why?"
"So something else doesn't have to."
"..."

I want to have robot parts, too. Make the outside match the inside a little.

You don't want to die, neither do the rest of us! Imagine if Homo sapiens didn't care whether they died. They probably wouldn't exist! You are alive, so naturally, you don't want to die.

I agree with you though. I can't wait to become a cyborg! It's going to happen too. Soon many human beings will become cyborgs. Just hang in there... it might be another 20-30 years, but it'll happen, I'm sure of it. However, being cyborgs we will have superhuman abilities and superhuman intelligence. Your brain will only be "precious" if you modify it and change it, whether with drugs or a chip add-on. You may be smart now, but that's nothing compared to what super intelligent cyborgs will be.

And what will the mind be when we modify our brains, when we become super intelligent? We certainly will not be the same. Will we still want to do the same normal human things? Will we want to have sex? Will super intelligence make us realize how bleak the world really is and make us super depressed, like Marvin (from the Hitchhiker's Guide)? You won't be the same person, so you might as well not even think of it as "you" preserving this thing you know as your "self."

That kind of stuff gets me really thinking and worrying. But if we proceed cautiously and slowly, there'd be a lot to gain.

In a way, most of us are already cyborgs, in that our concept of self grows to include the devices we use (watches, cellphones, the internet). I almost think of Google as an extension of my brain that has grown to incorporate humanity's collective consciousness.

Devices like these will continue to become more ubiquitous, but I don't think invasive extensions requiring surgery will become mainstream very quickly. Most people will be too worried about accidental deaths during surgery, disfigurement, and the constant high level maintenance required. There will also be the usual discrimination, government-imposed bans, etc. that accompany every new technology that threatens to extend the boundaries of humanity.
