Mac for the graphics capabilities.

And Linux for kicking both their arses at everything.

Macs are good for graphics, and beginning computer users and people who don't care for upgrading.

Windows PC's are good for Gamers, Basic Multimedia Apps, Programmers, and people who use a lot of programming.

Linux is good for networking, web surfing, and freedom.

LINUX good for network workhorses. Too many flavors and too many bugs for me.
MACs good for graphics and printing applications along with bragging on how much it cost.
PC maybe not the best at networking and graphics but are cheap and get the job done better than most think.

Watched the last Stargate movie on DVD and watched the extras. They were using PCs. Also, worked supporting NASAs Eng. and they used PCs since forever.

What is funny to me is that for a long time Macs and UNIX users looked down at PCs for using INTEL chips and not the more expensive RISC processors. Now, Macs have gone to INTEL and LINUX is INTEL based.

If you are already computer savvy then LINUX is a good alternative but then you probably already have a PC somewhere, maybe.

If you are new to computers then a PC or a Mac will work.

Overall, it is what you are accustomed to using and the task at hand.

Macs are good but i don't like how everybody is trashing Windows and Linux right now. Especially when half the People trashing PC's haven't even used a mac for more than a few hours or just hate Windows because they happened to buy a crappy Dell computer that is lagged down by Spyware and a Slow Dial-Up Connection. I also don't like the consumers that assume Mac is great just because its different or because the IPod they bought works so well.

Honestly I like Macs because of the innovative design of the OS and the fact that i don't like M$ so much at the moment for screwing up with Vista. I also don't like all the warning messages in Vista. [I believe M$ gone too far with treating us like Dumb****'s.]

I've never used Windows, so I can't say anything about it other than that you never have to worry about whether a piece of software you want is available for your OS.

Mac OSX is nice, simple, you can do everything you need to do without knowing anything. At all. There's also the "just-works" appeal. Nothing ever really goes wrong with a Mac

Linux gives more flexibility than OSX. You have more control over your computer, and since you can make the system more stream-lined, you can also make it faster. It takes more work to get it functional, but I think it's worth the extra effort.

I'll play double devils advocate.

Mac is good for the new user. It gets you going quickly and its relatively bug free. Unfortunately its rather rigid in what you can do with it, and in the end, the user learns next to nothing. Thats not good for self confidence.

Windows will let you do whatever you want. Its got software for just about everything. Unfortunately windows networking is like having sex while wearing a rubber with a hole. Not exactly safe. Microsoft will treat you like everything you do is fraudulent, requiring verification all the time.

Linux innovates. All the really popular software in windows is based there, like firefox. Its even having an effect on Mac. What its lagging behind at is stuff that middle aged programmers are not interested in: games.

Mac is for users who don't want to know why their computer works.
Linux is for users who want to know why their computer works.
DOS is for users who want to know why their computer doesn't work.
Windows is for users who don't want to know why their computer doesn't work.

I use Linux since 10 years and the Windowses or Macs I used lately were misconfigured, so I can not exactly judge them. The design of the OSes (not of their GUIs) did not amaze me though...

They're all fine, I just use OS X for the reduced crashes and sexier looks.

And depending on the distro Linux can be a pain in the ass at times.

Gaming multimedia MP3 player compatibility, and graphics: Windows
everything except gaming: Mac
FREEDOM and Uber nerdy: Linux

Bottom line: they do what they were designed for. Quit the Mac is 100% better than Windows crap.
