Actaully stastics have shown that you're ten times more likely to be injured in a car crash than an airplane crash. Soem airports are too small to have an arcraft control tower. If the flying car had radar than wrecks would be far less likely to happen. Morst planes don't have radar especially the smaller planes. Another thing that could be implemented is night vision. There are ways to get around those problems. To fly an airplane does require a pilot's liscense, but if it was flown by computer it wouldn't be near as hard. That's true what you said about robots.

In the predominant socio-political system of earth, the progression of technology is dependent upon scientific progress. Advances in science depend upon the effective direction of resources (such as innovation and materials) available to a skilled workforce and how efficiently they are managed. Usually, these commodities are redirected into services for commercial use.
Our prevailing system is not the most effective known for consistent and efficient progress – it is characterized by the mismanagement of resources for various reasons.
There is some progress to be made. We have worked in developing small yet functional quantum computers since 2005.

It's a whole lot more complicated than that. Air traffic control towers have the same tech used in the '70s. Nobody (particularly the "small government" whiners) wants to put money into them, so nothing ever improved. Air traffic control systems could be done almost entirely through electronic means, but nobody's willing to spend the money to get there or make the airlines play ball.
