2 days ago my Ipod touch was working top-notch, then I went to eat my lunch, locked my Ipod and put it down on the table. Five seconds. FIVE SECONDS later I pick it up, try to open it...and nothing! Nothing! The piece of junk add just died! It can't just be batteries because the battery was like 3/4 full, and it's been plugged for like 2 days in my computer. Plus now Itunes won't recognise it, as if the ''soul'' (sorry, can't explain it better) of the Ipod was gone. I'd try to get support from the Apple website, but since I can't find my serial number since my Ipod is ruined, I can't (Unless there is some secret place on your Ipod touch where the serial number appears that I completly forgot about).

Can anybody help me?

My Ipod guarantee is also expired, so at this point should I just throw it to the garbage and buy another? Could there be a way to save my files on my old Ipod? I've grown kinda accustomised to that little f***er...

Mine died in a similar fashion--the battery was almost full, and after locking it I came back to it mere minutes later to find it a shell of its former self. It did absolutely nothing. I did everything I could think of, but nothing worked. A few days later, as a last ditch effort I docked it in its charger...and it worked. I think iPods are just finicky....

Why waste money buying a new one
when it can be repaired?

If you are not an electronics nerd,
you may wish to have someone who is
do this for you or show you how if electronics
is within your typematch but you feel you
don't have enough info to continue.

Now and then my ipod seems dead but actually it's just locked up. Lock-up can look like death.

Try this fix:

1)Turn the Hold switch to on, then off.

2)Set the ipod down on a flat surface. Press the Menu part of the click wheel and the silver center simultaneously and hold about 10 seconds, until the apple logo appears.

4)Plug it into your computer.

I got those instructions from the "how to re-set ipod" section of their support website. If you already went there and already did that, my condolences on the untimely death of your ipod.

edited to add: I looked at LittleTigger's "how to fix an ipod" link and it had this suggestion and some others too. Best wishes!

Okay it's working again! Looks like the battery just got discharged. I can't explain why...
