Looks ace, I'm thinking of dual-booting Ubuntu with Vista on my laptop - but since Vista uses a different boot system from other versions of Windows, would Ubuntu pick it up and be able to load Vista properly?

EDIT:

I got Ubuntu up and running, without a glitch! ;)

This is my response to those who say that a Windows Desktop can't look cool and sophisticated.

How do you get a screenshot of your desktop?

An interesting point here. I just wondered, so I tried it out.
Saving an image of my desktop as PNG took 298Kbytes, and as that is lossless, it was perfectly readable, throughout.
Saving as GIF was also lossless, but took 391Kbytes. Almost a third extra, which surprised me a little.
Saving ss JPEG 100% was 513Kbtytes. (JPEG is rubbish on graphics and is always lossy, but not badly at 100%)
Saving as JPEG 92% got me down to 292Kbytes, with visible artefacts around text.
Saving ss JPEG 25% went down to 100Kbtytes, with artefacts showing quite a bit.
Saving as JPEG 5% got me down to 38Kbytes, with text still just about readable, but colours pretty messed.
Below that, the colours went completely to pot!

So. If you want a perfect image, there's not question but that you should use PNG.

If you want a slightly quicker upload, use JPEG, but you should duck well under 90%.

If you want a "quick and dirty" image, use JPEG below 25%.

Actually, one qualification. If all you are posting is pretty much an empty desktop, and your background is a JPEG, why not forget the rest and just post the JPEG in the first place? :)

Maybe it was a free Windows program...maybe it was a screenshot program linux uses.
I hit printscreen and KSnapshot automatically loads and the default save is .png
