Wasn't quite sure if I should put this here, or in the art section, but since it is more of a computer problem then an art problem...
I am making a model in Blender, I just got the meshes done, and put 3 textures on it, I did a quick render to see if there was any Weirdness , and low and behold, I found Weirdness . Weirdness which I can't figure out the cause of. All of the normals are facing out, there are no doubles... WTF is this!

Didn't use a mirror modifier. Duplicated half, mirrored it, and lined it up with the existing half, and removed doubles to merge the two.

i've got just a tiny bit of experience with Blender, myself .. but maybe if you showed what that part of the gun looks like as a wire frame .. with the skin removed (invisible) .. the problem might be detected ..

...it may also be of benefit to know what iteration of blender you are using?

Due to laziness and an unwillingness to learn the latest user interface, I perservered with 2.49 until weird technical glitches started to arise. If you are indeed using an older version, upgrading to 2.6 may eliminate any 'weirdness' you are encountering.

If you're still struggling I would recommed posting your problem on the nystic.com forum. Its a dedicated blender forum and you will most likely get a helpful response within a matter of hours. You really need to elaborate what the issue is, I'm still failing to understand the problem.

Using the latest blender.
Look around the eye peace of the scope, the grip and top of the stock, and the chin rest, that discoloration isn't meant to be there.

I think i had a similar discolouration problem with a character i was modelling. He wouldn't skin correctly because some of the faces in his forehead were 'inside out'. Can't remember how exactly, but I managed to turn them around and that fixed the problem. Try going into orthographic view mode to 'see inside' your model and see if the correct colour is on the inside. If so, then thats your problem.

If all else fails you may need to delete the offending faces, fill them in again then re-UV unwrap and re-skin your model. Unfortunately Blender is extremely temperamental and not very forgiving to learners. I guess thats the trade off with freeware.

search youtube for tutorials. Especially 'super3boy'.

Like titangeek says also check out noobtopro on wikibooks, its also very helpful.

I think once you get the hang of the camera modes, mirror modifier and use of background images then blender is much tamer to use. Its the rigging and animation side i am really struggling with at the moment.

to me it looks like the face there is doubled (two-layered).

Nope, removed a face, and replaced it, the problem remained.

New tidbit of info on this rather perplexing problem. The problem is only there when I have it set to shade smooth.

Come on people, this is a forum of thousands of aspies, the combined intellect here should be enough to collapse the universe! Let alone solve this minor (if stubborn) glitch! Lets put that autistic grey-matter to work!
