I'll tell you the same thing, "Get GIMP." Another option is to get a software firewall and block the program from connecting to the Internet. Even though I believe in copyright, I also believe in proper tariffs on imported products. After doing some research online, I found a few sites showing where Adobe has sent American jobs to India without paying any tariffs on the imported services. This is the reason why I decided to provide an answer to your question.

Do a search for CS4 and hosts file, and you should find your answer.

Digger1, do you use windows 7? Apparently MS allows software like photoshop to invisibly bypass your firewall.

I use Vista home premium. I tried the firewall thing but don't entirely understand it. Are the checkmarked programs those that I'm allowing through or those that I'm blocking?

I suppose I could keep entering the keygen code every time but that would get tiring.

If you want to pirate stuff, learn to set your own dang firewall to avoid detection.

So, let me see if I understand: you're too cheap to pay for Photoshop. The GIMP and other free/cheap alternatives that have been mentioned aren't good enough for you. You're not capable of improving the software to add the capabilities you want. You can't figure out how to blacklist a program from calling home. And it's too much of a hassle for you to enter your illegal cracked code every time you use Photoshop. You really do just want something for nothing, don't you?

Checkmarks are those things that are allowed through.

Even in vista PS might have an invisible door...

The interesting fact about an expensive program like PS is that the amortization cost of typing in a number repeatedly is far less than the life span of the software. That is, at a certain low value, one tends to say "F" it and just pay for the stuff.

Quite a bit actually, that's why there isn't widespread adoption.
Both are incredibly inefficient, require large areas of land to work and have some pretty hefty equipment and installation costs.

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

I'm guessing you either work for a pharmaceutical company or a petroleum company

Check the age, buddy. I'm a university student, and for the record I have no intention of working in either the pharmaceutical or petroleum industries.

I recommend just Googling GimpShop. It's based on gimp but the interface is redone to feel like PhotoShop. Otherwise, my advice is do anything to avoid stealing software.

I used to work for a Pharma company, if that helps...;) But you could just create a text file with the code, then cut and paste.
