Computer-related pet peeves
1: People who say their macs "just work" and never crash. Macs are computers and suspectable to crashes like any other computer. Believe me, I've seen it happen. The Macs at college kept getting kernal panics over certain programs.
2: The term "micro$oft". Especially ironic when Appl€ fanboys use it. When one says it, he/she is instantly a twat in my books. Sure they may be a "oh no, big bad company!", but are other companies like Apple any better? Nope.
3: Claiming to be superior to others by the OS/hardware you use.
4: Linux fanboys. I don't hate linux, but they have the same type of smugness as Apple fanboys.
5: Open source. A lot of it is buggy and crap to be honest.
6: Overdone desktops with loads of effects just to show off. What's the point?
7: Mac vs PC arguments. Both are computers, use them.

And so on.
QFT.
I find that there is a subset of computer users that for some reason emote their operating system choice and hardware specs on their sleeves in an effort to identify other similar like minded computer enthusiasts which in turn leads to a severe case of "Group Think".
Back when I was starting out in this business I had a friend that was also getting into web programming. This guy was very anti microsoft, to the point of being embarrassing. He would rant and rave about how some guy he knows does UNIX this and that and how this guy was saying that it would be a waste of time doing any MS development. I tried to give my opinion about it but my words did not carry as much weight for some reason.
I just wanted a job so I took a job which later helped me get to where I am now. There was a job opening and my friend was bugging me about a job. I asked my manager and he was looking for someone with MS web development experience. I mentioned my friend and was asked specifically about his MS experience and preferences. I did not lie. My friend did not get the job and, has still never worked in the computer business.
I tried to help, but it gets old being told by the person that you are trying to help, that you don't know what you are talking about.
1) The idea that best for one is best for all - an OS is a tool. If you like Crescent wrenches in the shop, and they do what they're supposed to, that's all fine. If someone comes in and says only socket wrenches are good enough, well, that's their style...
2) Open source - yeah, it's a mixed bag, but the whole idea of open source is that if a bug is discovered, someone will fix it, a lot faster than waiting on the latest 'patch' from MS... Some of it's good, some not, but whaddayawantforfree? Rubber biscuit?...
3) Lately, certifications. The MC-whatever ones, mainly. Thousands to get your ticket punched, and they're literally built to fail, unless you memorize everything. I've seen want ads that say (not making this up) 'MCSE, and the ability to lift 60 pounds...
5) (4 is right out... watching all the brain work vanish over the ocean, but then I've got a personal beef about that...
Gosh shl... Paddy789, it's the Ubuntu fanboys that are the real annoying ones. They're the worst out of all the linux fanboys.

A Mac is a PC. So, I don't get that argument.

Nah man its totally those obnoxious gentoo people, on another note captain kirk is totally inferior to picard!
They're even more of a "PC" now since they share the same hardware now. For some reason, Apple uses PC as a term for computers with windows. I generally use the term for that aswell, but it's out of pure laziness. Obviously of course, PCs can run pretty much any OS.... even OSX.
Windows and OSX both are good OSes, and both do the exact same things. What OS you use is personal preference at the end of the day. You can't say it's "superior" like it's fact because it's always subjective. Personally, I prefer windows because I'm used to it - I can fix most problems that arise with it easily and that my personal experience with it has been pleasent, even with Vista.
For some reason, I actually PREFER Vista to Windows 7, even though 7 runs faster.

I do not like the user interface in vista, it is so hard to search for a file in vista when compared with NT or XP

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.
