I have an ipod.

If the zune can play .FLAC or ogg vorbis formats then I go with that.

Otherwise, neither.

If you want flac and vorbis support, have a look at iriver.

I chose Zune as I prefer the non iPods. The Zune has an FM radio, supports more formats, and is far superior to the iTouch if you have the Zune HD model. I know that the Zune HD is new and doesn't have many apps for it, but does it really matter when you compare it to the number of apps for the iTouch? Just because Apple has more apps doesn't automatically make iPods superior to Zunes. iPods do have better Linux support than the Zunes, but keep in mind that Linux support for Zunes is being worked on. The Zune is an MTP only device, but it needs some type of activation key along with the Zune software to be detected on a Windows computer.

I, myself have a Cowon iAUDIO D2 8 gigabyte with a 4 gigabyte Transcend microSDHC card. I love the radio and the many flash apps, splash screens, and themes that you can install. I like that it supports almost any operating system, audio and video format. Every song I have is ripped in FLAC. The best thing about the device is that it's MTP/MSC because I can use it in Ubuntu without a hitch and my old PowerMac G4 I plan on using as a server for my blog. I even got my Apple obsessed friend who has a 64 gig iTouch drooling over my D2. My cousin even dumped his iPod and bought Cowon's Outstanding iAUDIO 7. Before owning the D2, I have owned a 4 gig Samsung YP-P2, 4 gig Insignia NS-DV4G, 2 gig Samsung YP-T9 and a 1 gig SanDisk Sansa m200 series(m240). I will always buy the non-iPods because those came out way before Apple's iPod. Apple didn't invent the MP3 player, but they revolutionized them.

An expendable $20 MP3 player is the best. I like my monochrome screen and SD card support!

And worked against. Microsoft could make it really easy. Apple is not opposed to cross platform use of their mp3 player, and nobody else is either. Really makes you wonder who at MS wants to continually shoot themselves in the foot?

Recall the directX10 for fallout3 issue? Turned out that all they did was use code stubs to pretend to require directX10. Someone wrote a hack and full graphics were possible on directX9(and thus windows xp).

Was it likely the choice of the game author to be limited to directX10? Then why didnt he use the directX10 features? The game was written for directX9 and then someone insisted that it be redacted for DX10.

The gaming company? Not likely that they would make a move that would limit sales. My guess? More Microsoft pressure to use only their system and only the new one(Vista).

iPod Classic. The only one I like since it fits my whole library, the only issue is it's hard drive based and my barely year old classic already has a dying hard drive.

iPod's sync ok under windows, but they sometimes have issues hanging in sync mode and aren't actually syncing. It's a little frustrating.

I've used a Zune once and it seemed like a step backwards from an iPod as far as navigation.

iPod 5G here. I've also installed Rockbox and iPodLinux but use the stock OS 99%. Everything except the music I manage with iTunes. For the music I use CopyTrans Manager as for some strange reason there are a bunch of tracks in my collection that iTunes denies the existence of or doesn't read the tags. To edit the tags I use ID3-TagIT. To play music on Windows I use Songbird, and to play videos on Windows I use WMP.

I've never owned an ipod or zune but I voted zune because I don't like ipods.

I stand firmly behind my Creative mp3 players. I first had a Creative Zen V Plus and it was great and I had no problems with it. It still works but I wanted more space so I gave it to my mom and got a Creative Zen. This one, I'm so much in love with. Comparing it with my friend's ipod I found it to be quite superior. Bigger screen, better search function, easier buttons (that scroll wheel is dreadful, I don't know how people deal with it all the time), looks better, I honestly couldn't find one thing I liked about the ipod when compared to the Zen. It was also a lot cheaper than an ipod with half the storage space and a much smaller screen.
