AMD. No bad experiences, and cheap enough that I can buy them.

I currently favor Intel because the Core 2 and i7 have no equal...yet.

Frankly, I prefer neither because what I go with in a build depends heavily on what the system is being built for and the budget I have to work with. AMDs were top for a good while. Intel had a nightmare with the P3 and P4 chips not being everything they hyped them up to be.

When it was all about single core CPUs, AMDs were doing better than Intel....certainly so when you looked at the price you paid for the performance you got.

When it comes to multi-core, I believe Intel has the upper hand at the moment. Neither seems to have any serious QC issues going on that hurts them in the marketplace.

I much prefer Intel over AMD, Intel CPUs have quite a bit more grunt than AMD CPUs. The only problem with Intel is that it is an evil company.

I don't think there tends to be a huge difference between AMD and Intel anymore. They're both fundamentally the x86 architecture (or x86-64 for the newer 64-bit processors) so it comes down to whichever is the better deal when you go to buy it.

I prefer AMD purely because they are not Intel (which, admittedly is as dumb as saying, I prefer democrat over republican, labour over tory, or labour over liberal) however last time I checked Intel had a massive lead on performance.

I myself prefer AMD. Wider 64 bit bus and greater CPU speeds for graphics and number crunching.

By the way Apples and Macs prior to Power PC used the Motorola 68000 series microprocessors. And so did the Commodore Amigas back in the day.

I think it's safe for me to make it clear that I am an employee of one of the companies under discussion.

I'll keep my lips zipped with regard to laptop chips, but I believe AMD still offers a good desktop solution.

I will say that I believe this is ultimately going to shift the game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Fusion. I am deeply involved with this project, and wish I could say more about it.

I'm still looking for an nForce 700 series motherboard with AM3 socket, DDR3 memory, and dual gigabit ethernet ports. I prefer nForce anyway. The closest I can find only has DDR2 memory from ASUS with one gigabit ethernet port...

Personally I avoid Gigabyte, had nothing but bad luck with those boards

Doesn't look like an nForce to me... That one is an AMD790 and not NF790 - I prefer nForce as it's more likely to support my SLI set up

It's more about what I can afford. Since AMD's are cheaper, I'll stick with them. My computer has an AMD Athlon X2 4800+ processor running at 2.5Ghz.

I use whatever is considered reliable, cheap and appropriate for my needs. I don't have a favourite out of the two. Of my two computers, one of which is a laptop so doesn't count really, the laptop has Intel, the desktop, which is 7 years old has an AMD and the AMD works fine, that makes AMD quite reliable in my eyes...

I prefer AMD for what I do. I've learned from many many customers that Intel seems to work much better for video based applications, like movie editing, whereas AMD works better with calculations, such as games and programming.

I only listened to the custys that knew what the heck they were talking about, not the ones looking for a new 'intel plenium'.
