mechanically awesome, but the senors and processing didnt exisit at the time to make marvin practicle

If you look to the left, you will see my robot. Your "definition" includes all biologic entities.

So far as a "mech" is concerned, as you do not seem to be able to define the term, how would you know it does not conform to your definition of a robot?

The two OED definitions of "mech" may not be what you want:

colloq. Chiefly Mil. (esp. Air Force). = mechanic
Cycling colloq. (chiefly Brit.). = A derailleur gear mechanism on a bicycle.

The former would fit your definition of a robot, but the later might not.

Well a mech is a "kind" of robot that one pilot can enter inside. Like those that appeared in Alien when they carry crates or those that appeared in Avatar or in Matrix Revolutions.

I like the ReadyBot for its no nonsense simplcity. Can be teleoperated and automsly controled, thus moving back and forth on that line tween robot and non robot

that remainds me of the semi automouse plane my friend is up, radiocontrooled till it reaches the maximum range, switches to self control afterwards
