I've heard that geologists tend to have very high job satisfaction.

I'm glad to hear that, because I'm studying geology with a view to making a career in the field. The point is to leave my current job which makes me feel miserable.

I majored in Earth Science. I love geology and it's my "special interest". I did work as a geologist for a while, but I had some issues with the job I had. First of all, it was very physically demanding. I have never been physically fit or strong, so I hurt myself doing this job. I also got hurt at this job because my Asperger's causes me to be clumsy, so I trip and fall a lot. It also involved lots of travel, and being separated from my family causes me too much anxiety. I also hate staying in hotels and cannot sleep at all if I am not at home. Therefore, I have had trouble with geology as a career.

I hope that you are aware that this thread ended ten years ago.

But feel free to necro it if you want, and to … carry on!

Yeah I saw that but I like geology so much that I wanted to contribute anyway. Maybe somebody is still interested. I just post stuff that is important to me. Don't really care how old it is or anything.

I too would have trouble with those things at a job. Perhaps you could to do something else related to geology without being an actual geologist. Maybe you could help write a geology textbook or work at a gem shop or a museum.
