Usually a monkey can install Ubuntu sometimes there are compatibility issues, like with broadcom wifi cards. But usually if not always these can be fixed by either having another computer or just doing your research before hand.
Did you know that issue is almost entirely fixed? Broadcom released drivers late last year. http://www.desktoplinux.com/news/NS2486458776.html
Entirely fixed, actually. Ubuntu includes the proprietary drivers necessary to make any Broadcom wifi card work, and they have for a couple years now. It should just be a matter of checking a box and saying "yes, I want to use proprietary drivers, please install them for me."
Includes them but you still need an Internet connection to install them(unless you can do this at installation?) which requires an Ethernet plug-in.
For some of the drivers, yes you do still need to keep an ethernet connection when you first install (last I checked at least). Linux Mint includes all of those drivers on the install media so you can just boot up and have Broadcom wifi working even in the live environment.

That is a myth. OpenGL is very capable, but MS has worked very hard at discouraging its use on the desktop PC platform.
I mean, unless you are going to say that Nintendo and Sony consoles have garbage graphics on everything, OpenGL is perfectly sufficient for gaming purposes.

Sure would be nice though... if Ubuntu put a priority on improving the OpenGL system and marketted its OS as a free, high performing gaming OS platform that incidentally does everything else better than windows it would take a big chunk of consumer market.
The issue here is really getting third-party game developers on board, which is beginning to happen with Steam for Linux.

But that's just not how Microsoft works. It's better for the share value if they force the use of their own closed and proprietary "standard".
