I loved the idea of Google Earth, but found it disappointing as the street I live in was all fuzzed out :(

Apart from that, I LOVED seeing Yosemite once again (went to the US in 1999), and places like Niagara Falls, Antartica (WOW) and of course, the Pyramids in Egypt!!

Never tried Flashearth - will give that a go - thanks for the tip!!

decent resolution for my area
tho I do wish it was realtime, so I could wave out the window to the satellite and then see myself waving.

I have found Microsoft MapPoint to be fast. I was also able to zoom in to a much lower altitude above my grandparents' land than I could in Google Earth. Link: http://mappoint.msn.com .

Seeing yourself waving out the window might be cool. But considering most people with any practical need for such exactness in surveillance probably have more pressing needs, i.e. national security, sadly, regular net users aren't allowed to access it just yet.

I guess you're right. I mean, thieves could just watch your house on their computer and go rob all your stuff when they see you leave for work (although they could do that just by watching in person).

Aww, I wanted to see myself on the net!

EDIT: I found my childhood home! Rather, the place where it used to be, as the whole neighborhood was torn down. Kinda depressing.

hey i love that program!! !! tim_rex are u a georgraphic info systems tech?? and are they the people who make maps??

my favorite places to look are any place with the extreme high res. such as massachussetts, las vagus strip, philadelphia, i love these areas because of the detail and many people comment on the area(the little i's)

another favorite is looking at large and unique areas like the wonders of the world and areas that are small like small communities in the middle of the sahara desert in africa. the grand canyan is last place i looked at when i last opened google earth(saturday)

i also use it as a tool too in case my friend who teaches driver's ed gets lost (that sounds odd to me but happens)he would txt message me from his phone and ill tell him how to get home or to another place. at times GE is more accurite then mapquest.

best download and favorite soo far(i have GE4 the beta version)

That I am.

Tim

I heard that the accuracy on GE is so good that if somebody happened to be skinny-dipping when the air photos were taken, then you could see it.

I use Google Earth sometimes. I have a passing interest in geography, so it's fun to play with. The north and south poles are messed up, though.

I've never seen a person in Google Earth. But it's been a while since I was using it a lot, so it may have changed since then.

I have google Earth. When I first got it, I was amazed to see such detail, and lucky for me, I can see my house properly! :D

I can make out my house on there so I'm happy enough, I suppose. I can make out where my local pub is, although by dint of geography you don't see much - just the end of the building.

Yup, it's great, just a shame they don't update for North West of England very often.
