Why don't you just make a Windows 95/98 virtual machine?

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Try finding a Windows 98 driver for the Intel GMA graphics chip most netbooks have... It doesn't exist. No matter how knowledgeable you are with computers, trying to run Windows 98 natively on that hardware simply will not work.

Running 95/98 games under Windows XP 32-bit is definitely the best option - If the games support it. According to nat4200, the games the OP mentioned should all run under XP, so that would be the best option in this case. However, there are many older Windows games that absolutely will not run on XP, and that's where virtual machines and emulators come into play.

With old computer hardware like that laptop (assuming it works) your thinking of, its best not to use windows 9x at all.
You can easily have an up to date OS on that laptop depending on its hardware spec, with lots of patience with configuring it up & technical help if you don't what to do & how to go about doing it. I'll suggest FreeDOS, a Linux distribution &/or BSD flavour, If I were you go with a dual boot of FreeDOS and Linux, or just Linux on its own.

I agree with others suggestions about virtual machines, if you were running Linux &/or *BSD then I'll add Wine to that list.

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but I've found that all of my older games work rather nicely on my system with DOSBox. Some do require a bit more "coaxing" than others (Daggerfall immediately springs to mind), but it's never escalated to the point of frustration. Still, if you want to go the laptop route and play your collection of games in their native enviornment, by all means go for it.

I just wish I could offer more advice, as it's been years since I last used Win95. I'm more familiar with Win98, since it came out around the time that I started "getting serious" about computers.

yea someone else bought the windows 95 laptop.. but the seller is selling the same laptop but with windows 98 instead, so i just get that one. i have to get a laptop not a computer.. can you imagine buying and having a computer deliverd? haha

Or worse, getting a P-P-P-Powerbook.

there are games that i remember playing at first school ... there was one i liked, that teached about the rain forest and saving it, but was still a game, i loved playing it.
another... i know little about... becuase i didnt use it much because it just stopped running... it was semingly a music game and animation of sorts i remember the screen sort of looking like this if that helps ,... http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3164/261 ... f76051.jpg like i said it wasnnt avalible for long but i LOVED IT SO MUCH. it was just like, a good 10 years ago i dont remember well i would love to play it again...
the computers might have been windows 98 some possibly 95.. i remember being realy sad cos after a few years zoombinis stoped running.. possibly becuase of the school possibly updating to windows 2000 or somthing..
