Do you think Windows 7 will be the new XP?

No. Win xp remained the purists haven because vista was slow and unpredictable. Win 8 is much faster than win 7, its also easier on hardware than win 7 which was sold as the easiest on hardware windows in the decade. My computers both run faster and cooler on win 8 than on win 7 doing the same tasks. Did I have to relearn an entire new OS? Not at all. Most items have been clumped into a single group and are easier to find than ever before. It also arguably looks better in its basic form and with its new leniency on tablets is slowly moving us as a steppingstone into the future of computing.
You must not have very many "legacy" Windows apps.
You must also be running a small display. Tiling or full screen sucks compared to actual windows on anything over about 12 inches.
I agree it's easier on hardware.

I have both a 10.1 netbook and a 15 laptop runing win8. And I do have plenty of "legacy" programs. A fun thing that every windows since XP has had was when you right click a program and go to properties theres a tab about runing this in XP, Vista, or win7 compatability modes.
