Nice to have that option! You could go two ways with it - a small, fast 64GB SSD to be used as cache for the drive the lappy came with, speeding up everything significantly - OR a BIG SSD for the OS and your favorite apps, reassigning the hard drive for pure storage only.

If you can afford it, the second option is better on the battery, since it'll only spin up the hard drive to access data not on the SSD.

Yeah I was thinking the 2nd option. I already have about 200GB of music on various devices that I can consolidate on the hard drive plus I would like to put some of my favorite movies on it. That should eat up the 1TB pretty quick.

I almost got the 551 but the sale ended the day I was going to buy it and the 771 went on sale that same day. The extra drive bay and the extra USB 3.0 port on the 771 really appealed to me but the unit is f'in huge. If I didn't intend to use it as a desktop replacement (and the fact it was on sale for $749) I would have gone with another 551 model.
