Should I give up gaming because it's too expensive?

I'm using a Core2 Duo rig that's mainly been cobbled together from secondhand parts, and I can run a fair number of games just fine. Now, I don't really play newer AAA titles, but it is a good rig for things like TF2 and various indie games, as well as emulators.
Steam had their holiday sale not too long ago, and I got tons of great games from it. I'm on Linux though, so I'll have to install Windoze to run most of them. I have an XP x64 partition, but that OS is getting long in the tooth, so I'm considering installing 7. I could just mess around with Wine, but the last time I tried running the Windoze version of Steam that way, it had TONS of problems.
