Simply, Microsoft is trying to record every single movement you make on your computer and store it, and probably share it with many different parties.

Sounds very interesting. If you can figure it out PLEASE post it here for the rest of us.

Your comment abou "consumer feeback" is exactly what I'm hoping for. That enough people will complain and they do a few updates that will restore some personal choices to the users.

It's an aspect of the OS on my one Linux machine that I hate the most. Now Microsoft goes and mimics it. Oh... WONDERFUL. :cry:

Yeah, but I don't want some hacker's software/mods on my computer. I want it to be official, and a legit tested part of the OS. I know there can sometimes be "after market" stuff that's safe and works better than what comes from Microsoft, but I just feel better knowing something came from them and is MEANT by the makers of the OS to work with it.

Well its looking like you click that start icon on the desktop, go to settings....and then in settings go to Personalization. Then it should have some options under where it says personalization including 'Lock Screen' since I guess that is what that first screen is called, click that one and it gives you options to change the picture/background.....

If your email and such is popping up you probably have some apps enabled so I imagine if you click on them...they should show up in the lock screen settings menu you can disable them.. On mine it just has the option to enable apps to show things like the date, weather ect but I don't have any enabled. But I would also like more customization option so may look to see if there is any talk of more of those options becoming available in future updates or anything.

I kind of like this weird Cortana thing, means I can talk to my computer....I can see myself having far too much fun with this. Just told it to play some Black Sabbath and it is, I wonder what else I can tell it to do.

This sequence worked for me for the picture you see on the Login screen:
Right-click on Start Menu
Control Panel
Appearance and Personalization
User Accounts
Make changes to my account in PC settings
Sign-in options
Scroll down to bottom -> Lock screen
Lock Screen -> pick any picture you want, even something NSFW

I'm afraid it's not that it's a link that pops up or anything. It's my e-mail address, because Microsoft MAKES you provide them with an e-mail address before you can be "accepted" by Windows 10 as one of its users. And then it goes and prints your e-mail address across the screen under your name. (Which I also don't want on the screen. I'd been using an account called "User" on Windows 7, for cryin' out loud. I don't need or want my personal stuff on the screen. What, are they trying to remind me who I am and how to contact myself? :lol: )

There's got to be more options. I feel like I've been turned into a kid and forced to attend a private school with a dress code. MICROSOFT ARE NOT MY PARENTS!! ! :D

No, it didn't make you. I had a local account with admin for a while, but I thought I may as well use a Microsoft account. You chose to at some point during the install. And you can change back, I'm sure there's some videos on doing so on YouTube.

Maybe it's part of a strategy to get users acclimated to doing as they are told in the hopes that this will increase compliance when the bill comes due for this "free upgrade" in the form of demands for an annual subscription to necessary system updates and a higher tier annual subscription for continued access to OneDrive, full Cortana services, MS Office, etc.

If you need real freedom, there's always Linux.

Yeah, the subscription model seems to be the new thing in computer software. You no longer own Windows, you're just renting it. That has ramifications far beyond pricing.

lol, cannot say the thought hasn't crossed my mind.....so far though I asked if 'she'(I say that because it has a female voice) likes cats and the response was along the lines of 'yeah I like cats, cats are cool man' I thought that was funny...and I've had it tell me jokes.
