As I see it, there are 2 different questions here:
1) Whether the general story (i.e. the class action suit) is genuine. The answer to that one is a definite YES.
2) Whether the specific website and the specific email are genuine, and not a phishing attempt piggy-backing on a real class action lawsuit. Answering THAT question may require a little further investigation.
To Kitty: Carefully compare (1) the domain name of the link that was emailed to you with (2) the domain name of the link provided in news stories about the case. Make sure they are spelled EXACTLY the same.
