Is There Anything Like Earphones to Silence the Noise?

They're expensive, but you can get some Shure in-canal-earphones. They're like a mix between earplugs and earphones. You compress the foam between your fingers before inserting them into your ear, just like normal earplugs. I have SE210s, they cost $150, but they sound pretty nice. They have one cheaper model but it costs $100. I use them at work. When I'm using them, I've had a co-worker tap me on the shoulder only to say that he's been sitting in my cube, right next to me, trying to get my attention for a few minutes but I never even noticed he was there. Noise canceling headsets only get the lower frequencies.
Other headsets usually only knock the noise down 25-30 db
Mine I got at a sporting goods store - the kind used at gun ranges
When I'm really sensitive I use my swimmer's silicone earplugs
in addition.

Definately go for the Shure canal earphones. They are pretty much ear plugs with sound coming through them!

It will definately block stuff like TV and people speaking. I can only just about hear the train when Im on it with the music on.

Only problem is, if it is relatively quiet where you are you will start hearing your heartbeat.

Have you tried your fingers in your ears or a pillow over the head, if you can still
hear your dad's movies, try the pillow on him. Wack him in the head with it.

Construction grade earmuffs. Put in earbuds first then put on the earmuffs -turn the music on at 1% volume, it'll kill all sound.
