Ummm... if your outside users are windows... you need to get Samba. Which is a b**ch. But... it does work. Setting up a linux NAS for windows boxes isn't my idea of fun, but I've done it at work.

Make a copy of the drive. So that you can restore easily if you botch something.

Good idea, thanks.

Does anyone know how I can install an FTP server, or which one to use? I tried configuring the built in FTP server, but it doesn't work. I tried something else with yum, but that didn't work.

That's a very exciting moment. I remember it.

I also remember the "now all I have to do is..." moment. Not quite as invigorating.

Compaq was a business brand. Goes back to the early 80s. I was certified to work on everything from the original Portable (6" screen in a box the size and weight of a sewing machine...;) to Proliant and Prosignia servers. Haven't touched one in a few years, tho.

It got bought up by HP, and lives a half-hidden existence as part of their lineup.

We used Evos at work about 5 years ago or so. They're ok, nothing to write home about.

If you need help for Compaq, go to HP's web site.
