I went to school in Germany and it depends very much on the school you been. When I moved to the University the first year was for me mostly repeating the maths from school, whilst others struggled; but I went to to a school with a very distinguished record of a very good mathematical and technological education, whilst other subjects, like languages or arts were of much lower importance.
