last time i checked i could play any PC game on my Mac. Since my Mac can dual boot any winblows software. Oh i guess your PC can only run winblows must be a bit limited then

Yes, Windows 7 is incredible. There is no better OS for gaming, art, movies, whatever you are going to do. No OS is better at doing everyday things than Windows. Linux is for industrial purposes (servers, programmers, etc.), and Macs are for the "creative, I got a Mac, Mac is so much better" idiots.

So whoever says Winblows, Windows sucks, or something like that, I bet they are secretly looking at a great PC game and saying "Wow, I wish I could play that, if only I had a Windows PC".

Windows gaming = All of PC Gaming, period.
Linux gaming = Game console emulators and open-source, free game projects that never get finished.
Mac gaming = Whatever you could play in your browser and the few games that gets ported to OS X.

Lithium is 100% right. I love my macs. notice the plural! I can run all my PC games on the machine and still enjoy the reliability of having a mac. (and it still blows my husband's PC out of the water) lol

So the only edge Apple has left in the PC market is its "reliability" and image. Now all it needs to do is reduce the price of their computers to realistic levels, which I doubt Apple will do. Thankfully, they have the blissful ignorance of their consumers to count on to buy iPod's and iMac's which were produced at a much lower price than they are selling them for.

I'd like to inquire as to why, within the first page, this has become a Mac vs. PC war, when the OP only asked what Mac OS is? Who cares what OS you prefer, just buy what one you like better and use it. You don't hear me saying everyone should buy a Ford because I like them, do you?

A Mac is a PC, get it right!!

I don't know how it turned out to be Mac vs. PC, it should be Mac OS X vs. Windows.

windows isn't worth the price,
if it were only about $10.00 USD
I might think about putting it on
some machine, but since its overpriced
just download it off of bittorrent,
don't pay for crashy trash
and save your computer from being
smashed.

Mac-OS is a terrible operating system on terrible hardware, Apple even proved it when the decided to bail on their own PowerPC technology and go with the windows option of Intel which is the Industry standard IMO, AMD is the alternative, and although I had various AMD's for years, I'm much prefering my current Quadcore Intel.

If you want a decent UNIX based operating system, try one of the many distro's of Linux. Ubuntu is the most "famous" of the lot, and looks similar to Mac-OS, but anything and everything in it is free, and you can do anything you want (not that I don't do that with my Windows installation). If you want a Linux distro that looks more like Windows, try Linux Mint.

But honestly, keep away from Apple Desktop's and Laptops, i've used and owned them, and they are crap, and use proprietary hardware, which means, if something breaks, you have to get expensive apple hardware, and you have little upgrade or customization options.

Canonical has been pushing stuff that is neither kind of "free", and you can use (basically) all of that free stuff in OS X as well. You can "do anything you want" in OS X (unless they get rid of the knob for allowing unsigned software in 10.9 :roll:

What "proprietary hardware"? They've been using the same generic hardware as every other PC since the switch to Intel, and they've just started losing serviceability with the recent "unibody" devices.

I know AMD is another x86 (Or x64).

Really? You personally construct all of the individual components, large and small, required to make a PC? Or do you use components such as drives from Seagate etc, video cards from NVidia or ATI etc, just like Apple (and Dell) do?

Oh and BTW, Linux isn't UNIX based. It's Linux based.
