Favorite Browser...why?

i don't really get much malware through IE, i also love the favorites button with no other explorer seems to have, they have bookmarks in a drop down tab that i hate so i'll stick with IE it's been good to me since well i started web browsing.

I'm using Windows XP x64 Professional Edition and not bothered to upgrade from 6 to anything higher as I use that partition for games/gaming anyway. Although with some games I have, I'm thinking that I need a 16bit emulator to run some older games that I still have.

I just use another computer on the network to scan it rather than bog it down with useless crap

Opera is my main browser. I only resort to Firefox for sites that Opera has problem with.

It just shows Opera is still in the works... It's good but I hope it could be further supported...

I support Google because of they they operate. The provide us with a bunch of nifty services that, yes you can get else where but, are all in the same place. At the same time Google doesn't force advertisements or play those annoying audio clips. I am not aware of any corrupt facet about them but if anyone knows one please tell me so I judge whether or not it affects me or my moral code enough for me to stop liking them.

Yes...exceptionally lazy! DLing something takes about as much energy as writing a post on here.

I can't remember the last time IE didn't have a bug that "may allow someone to take control of your PC" so I haven't use it in years. I simply don't trust it.

I use FF and Chrome on PC and Safari and Chrome on Mac.

I find Chrome is the fastest and slickest browser generally.

I thought there was an add-on for that. Anyone?

Usually when I close my browser, I click "save"...then when I re-open it, the 3-5 tabs I had open are right there for me. It's kind of like the "favorites" concept.

Safari (forgive me, my main computer is not a Mac)...or maybe Macs have the window of favorites that you can toggle between. I like it because there are pictures of the websites (like thumbnails). I think it must be MacOSX that has that, because when I open Safari on my Dell, no such luck.

Given my overall ignorance of computers, and what I use them for, I could probably use any browser and be happy, or at least not tear out my hair frustrated.

However, I got hooked on FF during the time of my addiction to the browser game Ikariam, adding in just about every illegal add-on I could find via greasemonkey to make things easier for me in the game. (And they're only "illegal" in the sense that most of them just replicate stuff Gameforge wanted you to pay for, but whatever. I was able to quit, so that's that.)

I installed Google Chrome and liked it, in the sense that pages seemed to load faster, but disliked it vs. FF in the sense that I started seeing lots of ads again for the first time in what must have been months. I found that so irritating I just couldn't stick with Chrome. So, until somebody comes up with something like adblock for another browser its going to be FF for me.

My only b***h about FF is that I seem to get these weird messages about FF being "already running, but unable to open" fairly frequently, especially on my desktop, a bit less often on my laptop. And then having to restart the machine to get FF working again. Both my machines are pretty much vanilla Vista, so I'm probably beyond help anyways.

In case no one has heard, the Chinese agents who hacked Google and about 30 other companies actually used a security hole in IE as their attack vector.

FireFox all the way. IE is just scary, it lets in way too much stuff. Safari was weird, never liked it. Opera... man it's been a while since I've used that one, caint even remember what I hated. And I won't use google cause I already have enough fun with big brother watching what I search.

Also, I use Lynx on my old iMacs, it's the only thing that will work on them yet still display *most* of the page.

I just use Safari. It's easier than faffing around with Firefox in any case as I use OSX.

That's one area that Opera beats Firefox hands down. I routinely have more than 50 tabs open, Firefox doesn't really cope well at that level.



More specifically the 32-bit version of IE 6 and 7. IE7 can be made invulnerable by enabling DEP and IE8 already had that on by default. Seriously those still using IE6 kind of deserve to be hacked. Afterall, how hard is it to download and install an alternate browser? Beside security they beat IE in almost every single way. I just don't understand why people are using it.

What I think people should pay more attention is Adobe. There haven't been too many days last year that their plugins are free of known vulnerabilities.

I hate Opera because it forced me to set up an IMAP account in the browser to access Usenet news groups. After that, all email I got had to go through Opera before it reached my in box, and a large portion of it got deleted because Opera mistook it as spam. It turned out that the browser's Usenet capabilities suck balls because it forces you to download every single post in a newsgroup before you read any of them. So I just use Lynx now.
