I keep away from the stock and shares. I was going to get involved back in '07 when my mother was in, but the prices started going down and down.

I have zero experience of the markets, but I told her to take her money out and she did. Good one Craig, she would have lost all of her profit. Goes to show, that you don't need any experience to know when something is going tits up.
If your mom had bought gold stocks in 2007, she would have doubled her money by just about now:

i've always thought this would be interesting. What costs are involved beyond actually buying stocks? do you have to pay for transactions and how is that priced. Sorry i'm sure it is quite complicated but just a general answer is great Very Happy good luck to your stocks!

For my online broker (TradeKing) it costs 4.95 per stock trade. That means it's about $10 to enter and then exit a position (If you buy $100 worth of stock, this means it would need to go up in price by 10% for you to break even), and these fees can really add up if you are trading a lot and in low volumes.

good call on the gold. i did a deep analysis on gold and shoudl have a look back at it. As i remember it is near the top of its trend line i think it hit a high of 1560 ? so if you had that your happy :)

I was in to stocks years ago and can show my profolio. i think that the investing is perfect for aspies.

I used to buy for a few weeks and usually got 30 % returns in that time (not using Technical analysis). but only had a few opportunities a year. For that reason i got out of it. now i am studying the art of day trading and it is going well. There is alot of useless information out there and have been able to stay clear from it and developed my own strategies and fine tuned them using techinics that are out there. Learning on my own is a good way to focus on things that work rather then all the false information out there.

I beliece that combining non TA (technicle ananlysis) and TA would be really good rout to take but it is too much work

currently im paper trading with netflix earning 4-10% a day but got bored as im not using real money,
Im thinking of joining a prop firm even though know 90% of them may be scams.

Im surprised how few people on this site talk about investing it would be great to have a place to discuss these things but the reply's here are too slow. I have my techincs that i like to keep to keep to myself as most day traders do but would be willing to share with a fellow aspie preferably local. but this looks higly unlikely.

anyways if this thread picks up i would be glad to share my trades in real time if there are others that use teh same technics here and are willing to share to learn.

investing is all about patterns and spoting godo business ideas.
some invest on the news and personally i found it to work on here in canada not in the USA.
now i am strictly learning TA.

but All methods require research and observing patterns. Its a shame that we tend to listen to the majority of investors that lose money and we shy away from it. Remember the majority of people just followed what their bankers tell them to without knowing it. Mutual fund managers will go to every extent to keep you locked in to their mutual fund. Never will they say.. there's a recession i think you should take your money out for a while and get back in buying more stock for teh same money once markets turn around (I'mavoiding the idea of shorting here). No they tell you to buy more or to keep buying and the average your average price you buy for will be lower...

there is some truth to that, in general if you are well diversified and hold long you should be ok.

but if you use aspie traits to trade then you are not only ok but you can create a stable source of income. people that lost money in the markets are either people that didn't get out of loosing potions and took risk with little reward their mutual fund manager suggested they do ( a sad truth) . Or people that tried to day trade and were not successfull ( a respectable lose)... then there are the successful trades

if there are investors out there i would love to share ideas preferably by email

Prove theorems, record books for the blind and point out other people's mistakes. Socrates was a personal hero of mine.
