Not sure how to do it but a useful idea would be to figure out a way for glucose to under
go a Cannizzaro reaction. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannizzaro_reaction
Technically I think its not possible because glucose has a hydrogen available to form an
enolate. But if you could find away you could get:
2 Glucose ===> Sorbitol + Gluconic acid
Sorbitol is normally made by the reduction of glucose and Gluconic acid by the oxidation of glucose.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluconic_acid
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorbitol
Most likely a protein based enzyme could be invented to prevent the enolate from forming(hydrogen shift from happening I guess).
Using UV light to mutate strains of E coli and detect and measure sorbitol and gluconic acid levels. Would be how to start.
-------
I was thinking traces amounts of sorbitol might be common as bacterica could reduce
and aldehyde/ketone to an alcohol without using a Cannizzaro reaction. So it might require using glucose in the bacteria culture media that has its hydrogen on the carbonyl
(-CO-H) replaced with deuterium (-CO-D) to be able to determine when a Cannizzaro reaction has taken place.

best idea ever!

best idea ever!
Imagine you're a cyborg, with a hard disk and all that.... and people in the streets saying: "please play Hanson and Christina Aguilera" ...

All too subtle for me, I guess.
The hard drive - I don't want. Just direct interface to the web. I have a brain for the on-board stuff.
"Hanson" is a reference to the American band? (I'm not sure I've ever heard of them.)
"Christina Aguilera" is a reference to the American singer? (I think I'd heard of her.)
I can sing, tolerably, but I have no other significant audio outputs.
There you go. Me being pathetically pedantic, etc. Sometimes I suspect I come from the other Wrong Planet.

it's okay
I was trying to make a joke about you being advanced and all that, but people only wanting to ask about "play this song"
and

Idea: efficient hybrid car without expensive resource hungry polluting technology
put a low horsepower engine in a car and use it as the main engine to maintain velocity.
add an electric motor powered off of the car battery for acceleration and climbing uneven ground.
reasoning: It doesn't take much power to keep a car going at a constant speed. High power is usually needed only during the acceleration phase and when going up a slope. Electric motors have instant torque. Only using the electric motor for short intervals would mean that it is capable of running off of one or two car batteries, not an entire trunk full. This would cut down cost and weight.
Add a chip that only activates the motor when the velocity does not equal what it should be when the gas pedal is pushed. (meaning that it needs to accelerate.)
