I think its more forgiving than friendly, right?

Oh and it amazes me how many OSX and linux users are here in comparison to windows. I understand that the number of linux users will exceed the number of OSX people this year(because of all the Eee PCs with linux distros on them).

But still, it seems that here we are about 1/3 for each. Its almost like aspies are atypical from the mainstream!

My old understanding was that 90-95% of machines are windows based, OSX is as much as 10% and Linux is hard to measure, but perhaps 1-2% tops. There is overlap because of dual boots and uncertainty. But its really hard to nail down reliable numbers too.

Very forgiving. It is pretty much impossible to screw up a Mac unless you know exactly what you're doing and are trying to mess it up. But, the other side of that is, if something doesn't work perfectly out of the box, there is absolutely nothing that can be done to make it work.


I'd be surprised to see Linux overtake OSX. It's got too much of a reputation for being something only 1337 hackers can handle, and that rep is built up way too strong to change anytime soon.

As far as composition of this forum, I wouldn't be surprised that we have more OSX and Linux users, but I'm also guessing most Windows users aren't explicitly saying they're on Windows, so we have an availability heuristic preventing accurate judgment.

I love my Mac.

I'm a Mac user and love OS X. (I also use Windows on a fairly regular basis, but my personal machine is a MacBook.)

I can't stand Windows.

Apple hardware is OK. My MacBook has not been great - it has an issue with fluctuating display brightness and the case has cracked twice in the same place because of insufficiently strong plastic on the front edge of the top case (the magnetic latch puts stress on it). The PowerBook I had before this was great except the hard drive failed (Toshiba component, same exact component failed in the Toshiba notebook I had before that). I will say that Apple's hardware is pretty, and Apple's warranty service is pretty good, though the first time I brought the MacBook in for the display brightness issue - when it was just starting and very slight and difficult to notice - they claimed it wasn't there.

Based purely on hardware, I would use a ThinkPad, but I like OS X too much to not use a Mac.

Everyone says how pretty the macs are, but the fact is.. they all look the same!

I get bored so easily, I boot into Windows so I can fix a few problems

Am only joking... I only use Microcrap because mainly all the games I want to play on PC are available for the Microsoft operating systems Otherwise I will happily go to Linux, or othe based OS. Would be sooo much easier if gaming manufacturers made their products multi-platform, I wouldn't mind paying extra for cross platform ability
