Why should I switch from Ubuntu to Sabayon Linux?

wow. I was wondering how this would work, when I asked about different distros. Thank heavens for ignorance on my part...

I once played with Red Hat 9 back in the day. We just had to download an iso file, and burn a CD. Do versions not do that any more?

Yeah, for most any distro you just download an iso and burn it. Mepis and Ubuntu both offer it, but I managed to click the wrong link on Mepis's site and got to their "Paid version" area, wrong part of site. My bad on that one.

Still, I don't get why Mepis is supposedly so great. Is it more user-friendly than Ubuntu? And, since the OP was asking for recommendations and has been using Ubuntu for a couple years now, is Mepis even easier to use than Ubuntu for someone already familiar with Ubuntu? Now that would be a feat!

Holst, I honestly am interested in trying out new distros. If you have a good one to recommend, please do so.

It is at least implying that you look down on it. Most Linux users are generally in favor of F/OSS, so claiming a particular distro is not free software is a bit of a put-down.

Out of curiosity, what do you use and consider to be good? I have time this summer, I'd be up for an adventure in one of the more "l33t" distros.
