These complaints about Microsoft software redundant and stupid. So what if it takes 5 minutes to wait for a defrag. Its a background application that doesn't take up much memory.

gf, I do think they have a valid complaint that it scans first, then asks confirmation. It could pop up "if I find excess fragmentation, may I defrag?", right off the bat. And they could put the sector map back in! I miss that!

As I recall, windows xp also does that. It analyzes, then asks if you want to defrag. Then again I haven't used XP on a computer by itself in a long time. So Idunno if it still does that. I do have it in virtualbox, but I not concerned if it gets fragmented

I call BS. XP runs faster in VirtualBox under Ubuntu with 512MB of RAM than Vista does running natively with all the power my computer has to offer it (4GB of RAM, 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, not too shabby) And it's a noticeable difference in performance.

And it gets to a confirmation more quickly.
