it is the picture of where i want to live in africa

And there's mine, the background rotates every 30 minutes, the connect 360 icon can be seen way at the top, and the wallpaper is a cool photoshop looking testcard I found while looking for 1680 X 1050 wallpaper.
it's not as pretty as most of the ones I've seen here, but it'll suffice!

OK i FINALLY got it! this is my desktop using linux mint 5 elyssa and compiz fusion running under GNOME with desktop cube enabled

I use Fluxbox so there's not much to see

You're running Gnome, but I have no idea what distro it is. Ubuntu?

OMG, where are the mods, all these photos making me have to scroll sideways and ruining my intrawebs experience! Can you put down the your Mountain Dew World of Warcraft energy drinks and turn off the Star Trek dvds for 2 seconds to do your job and save me the hassle of having to use my mouse to click a button to scroll sideways so I can reads betters?

Ubuntu 9.04 with a slick theme. Vista screenshot coming soon. Wallpaper from Interfacelift.com. Search for Elegance and you will find it.

EDIT: Added Windows screenshot. Thing runs smooth as silk. I have seen it crash only once and that's it due to a driver miscommunication.

Yeah it's Ubuntu. I wish I could have changed the Gnome footprint to the Apple logo, then it would have really been hard to figure out.

Edit: By the way, for those of you who couldn't see my desktop screenshot for a few days, my server was down due to a power surge and I was out of town so I couldn't turn it back on until finally now.
