I think that their concern is not about aliens but about whether the UFOs and other objects might be from places like China and Russia.

Probably not, but imagination does not lead to conclusive results. If there is any possibility of them being from foreign actors, then they need to be investigated.

heard of DARPA?
https://www.darpa.mil/

Lots of secret stuff going on there. Eisenhower called it the Military Industrial complex and they have more $$ > CIA, NSA or FBI.

Of course.

DARPA wouldn't necessarily want what they are working on in the way of stealth aircraft to be disclosed.

That does not mean that it is all DARPA, though. The possibility that someone else might come up with advances that we need to understand is certainly possible.

Mostly, though, there is no reason to believe that UFO sightings are anything else than either failures to identify ordinary phenomena or possible hoaxes. They still need to be checked out, though.

DARPA + US Aerospace are the only organisation with a budget to conduct this type of experiment.
China and Russia could allocate $$ toward stealth tech (e.g. SUV sized silent drones or tic tac UAPs) but it seems unlikely as particularly the Russians (who have a huge military budget) would be using this type of tech to defeat Ukraine (clearly they haven't). One US congressman has claimed the Chinese have this tech and have been launching them from submarines off the coast of the US and using it for surveillance of US nuclear powered ships. But these things were around as far back as world war II and in any case why would the Chinese be interested in sending mass drones over New Jersey for months, how expensive an exercise would that be? they were hovering over peoples homes for 7-8 hrs, certainly aren't running on any known fuel source or battery.

If DARPA was trying to deflect attention from secret research projects, it might be worthwhile for them to encourage people to think that they are from some other source, however irrational.

And if any of those sightings actually turned out to be of something real, then they would sure want to know about it.

I suspect they know. Keep in mind
a. If DARPA have antigravity tech relying on free energy they have a responsibility to share to save the planet
b. If a) is not true then it's aliens by default

and if a) is true then it's been around since world war II which is even worse

Normally we don't know, therefore aliens is only an exaggerated satire, but you've pretty much said it unironically. :clown:

Yet the CIA and US military take it very seriously
https://www.aaro.mil/

I'm reminded members of the military, airforce and navy who witness these objects know the difference and when they come in front of congress know they risk becoming laugh stock in front of the world. If anything they are the best trained witnesses in the world. And if they say it's anomalous then it's not "swamp gas" or "magic".

And no evidence of extraterrestrial technology.

Sometimes you've gotta admit you don't have a solid answer.

Right now, aliens is an admission of that without the actual admission.

The bigger question is what they actually are. It is quite likely that the person seeing them is seeing what he expects to see as the mind tries to make sense out of the view.
