I need to update my Flash Player from 9 to 10, update my Opera from 9.6 to 10.0 and so on. However Vector doesn't have the same package managment as Ubuntu. Making it were .deb files won't work not to mention I don't have a clue about .tar.gz files or .RPMs. Vector also doesn't have Synaptics or a software manager. Any help.

Oh and I also wonder how to easily install Gstreamer and all the restricted extras for my music.

I'm not familiar with this distro. But since it's SlackWare based, I think the package manager is slapt-get. You can find some of the programs on SlackBuilds.

btw is this distro good?

Its very good. I'm running it on a old Gateway designed for Windows 95 and if flies. Great for your good at networking and need a stable OS to do networking work. Also great for Linux Technicians and people who like to control their OS. Also great for Linux Beginners and people who have systems that don't quite run even Xubuntu. I have LXDE as well as IceWeasel on that system and it is fast.

For example Vector lets you choice just about every piece of software you put on your machine. Like example I choose Opera as my web browser since its the lightest browser with full plug-in compatibility. Lets you install Samba during the CD installation and pretty much makes it where you can install only what you need.
