Can someone here explain to me how to properly work directshow decoder for divX? I d/led directshow when divX recommended it, and installed it, but the sound still does not play. So I'm still missing something here.

I would download the combined community codec pack here at http://www.cccp-project.net/ and install that, tell me if your issues go away.

get VLC, free, for lots of OS, frequently updated, plays almost anything.
