Hey everyone!

Got myself a an 8gb iphone 3g that i got as a hand-me-down from my roommate. the ear speaker (not the speaker at the bottom of the device) on it was all clogged up with gunk and stuff and i could barely hear my calls so i tried blasting it with compressed air and that did not do a thing. So that i did was that i punctured holes into the ear speaker with a pin that fixed my low volume problem...but that created another problem.

Now every time i make a call or get a call, the touch screen is on and vulnerable to my cheek touching it and i may hang up on the other person unintentionally. i must have broken the light sensor or something. but now i hold the phone in such a way so that my face does not make contact with screen its not unconformable or anything

Im thinking about having this flaw repaired but seeing that i got this phone for nothing i dont see its worth it.

Any thoughts?

You could try http://www.ifixit.com/ to see if it's worth doing the repair yourself.

puncturing any part of the device invalidates the warranty (if it still has one). not recommended.
how much do you have invested in it? That should determine whether you want to repair or replace...
