I'm looking to do some work on the swine flu, as follows:
Report Finds Swine Flu Has Killed 36 Children, New York Times, Denise Grady, Sept. 3, 2009,
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/04/healt ... u-001.html
“ . . . In children without chronic health problems, it is a warning sign if they seem to recover from the flu but then relapse with a high fever, Dr. Frieden said. The relapse may be bacterial pneumonia, which must be treated with antibiotics. . . . ”
And that's the whole game. That is the single most important fact about swine flu, especially, especially since people are being told, don't worry, take it easy, generally mild, see how it goes, probably won't even need to a see a doctor.
All true, except if you relapse with high fever, then it is potentially very serious indeed. You will want to see a doctor within a couple of hours. Tell them, 'I think I have pneumonia.' Or, 'I think my child may have pneumonia.'
That is, the end of a case of influenza, the recovery period is more important and more crucial than the beginning.
The connection between flu and pneumonia has always been the biggest killer associated with influenza.
(I am not a doctor, but I am scientifically literate.)

So, you see what I'm doing. Referencing a news item, an except, and perhaps some discussion (and for this very serious aspect, it certainly is warranted).
I'd prefer a free blog site, but I guess I'd be willing to pay a little. (And if you wish to help with swine flu, I could use some good middle-of-the-roaders. There's no point in hysteria, but then it ain't necessarily a cake walk either.)
