As a lot of you probably know, I'm big into typography and such. I was therefore wondering what a symbol meant. Its called the house symbol and looks like this (I hope this displays in all browsers) ⌂

Its unicode U+2302 and they term it a 'Miscellaneous Technical' symbol using that system.

Anyone familiar with it?

Thanks so much!

Just for grins, I popped it into Google, and found this

http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/Unico ... 2-2300.pdf
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode ... /index.htm

Interestingly enough, Google also returned this thread...;)

honestly, I have no idea; possibly some sort of math, like Boolean algebra?...dunno

Interestingly enough, if you put it in wikipedia, it returns the regular article for the word ‘house.’ Also, if you take some oriental fonts and take symbols from them that aren’t writing characters, like the picture of a telephone, it will return those articles.

It's among the few special characters that actually shows up in my Firefox (instead of a box with a question mark in it), surprisingly.

It is part of the architectural technical drawing set. It was probably envisioned are possibly useful but really not.

Btw a page will only show a character if it is displaying the correct character set or there is an html entity for the character.

Of course browsers won't be up to date with every character.

I got the white sun symbol, and the symbol for Hot Springs.
