My previous post removed because I'm the manager of one of the labs that tested this stuff, and I forgot about the whole "confidentiality agreement" thing I signed. Too many of those to remember....

I can tell you that it isn't pure aerogel. They tried that but it's too brittle and crumbles away (otherwise the R-Value would be WAY above 10). So they instead have a aerogel/fiberglass matrix, forming wool-like sheets that can be curved without too much stuff falling out. We still had to wear gloves whenever handling it, so it was always entertaining when someone would come in to the lab "What's that?" "Aerogel" "Woah! Cool!" *grabs it*, "Um, yeah, you need to spend about ten minutes washing your hands now...."

they've had injectable insulation at least since the 80s (I lived in an apartment complex that did it then...;)
this is probably better, though. We'll keep an eye open...
