Is there anywhere to DL really oooollllld screensavers? I miss the ones that were just, like.. simple little tricks with math and pixels. Especially this one that looked like rainbow trees that grew one row of pixels at a time, branching off smaller and smaller as it got to the top. It must have been a fractal or something, I don't know. I used to watch it all the time when I was like 3 years old. My dad worked at Microsoft. I'm 24 now. Maybe that gives a clue as to what era of graphics I'm talking about.

You are probably (up to Windows 98) looking for .SCR files and if they were distributed with a version of Windows, then you can find them by searching through the cabinet files on a Windows installation disk. For instance the screensaver science.scr can be found in Windows 98 cabinet file WIN98_69.CAB. Windows 3.1 is harder because it came on 20 or so floppy disks.

Two warnings: .SCR files are a great source of viruses because you are choosing to download and run an executable (so stick to known sources), and you will need to set highcolor or a similar graphics mode and possibly other compatibility tweaks.

xscreensaver has all kinds of those types of screensavers. Find it with google, since I can't post links or something. :/

I unfortunately can't find a windows version of this.

There's also really slick screensavers, you can google for that as well. The linux versions aren't up to date, though.
