If you are a student or an MSDN subscriber or WebsiteSpark, BizSpark or DreamSpark member, you get Visual Studio 2010 for free. Since I am none of these, I only get Visual Studio Express which I have heard does not have the MFCs for Visual C++. Not that I know what MFCs are, but I understand that MFCs are essential to get Visual C++ to work as it should.

Does anyone know how I can get Visual Studio Professional for free? If anyone works at Microsoft, could you send me an invite or something so that I can just download the whole thing? I only just started to learn Java and have no idea how to program in C++ C# or C, but knowing that Visual Studio 2010 was released a few days ago, I have gotten greedy. I guess having all the latest tools would make me feel less ignorant and more powerful.

Have you tried torrenting the file?

Hmm..., here is the thing, Microsoft is giving it away for free but my problem is that they are just not giving it to me. Even if I did torrent the file, like all software products these days, it needs to be activated. Practically anyone from Microsoft could probably send me some kind of online coupon that grants me a free license. The whole thing is free to freelance developers and programmers who work at small companies, and I suppose I could call myself a developer, albeit a very crappy one; but I would need to go out and get to know Microsoft people who would then put me on the “list” and all that socializing, as you all would understand, is unpleasant; not to mention that I would undoubtedly come across as a fraudulent techie because of how ignorant I am. A good con knows when not to pull one ya?

So here is hoping that someone here figures a way to smooch this smoothie from Microsoft and that they share their lawfully gotten gains with me. It is after all for the betterment of the world and really in Microsoft’s interest that more people like me become conversant in their programming offerings. Who else would make the Windows environment such a rich and fertile place?
