Hi everyone

My PC tower is showing its age and im considering it is time for her to go to pasture. i got the system back in 2003 and it was amazing, over the years i installed some memory and a bigger hard drive and it has been quite the work horse for me.

Now, my main rig is a laptop i got in 2006 and this thing shows so sign of age. i use it for almost my commuting needs and has been running like a Cadillac for years, the battery drains like crazy when i unplug it but i dont mind.

This is what im thinking of doing, donate my PC to a charitable organization that will take the PC, fixit up and send it to impoverished county to be used for children to be used in school as an educational tool and buy myself a bigger hard drive for my laptop.

Tell me what you guys think of this idea...

That is a baby - buy it an energy-efficient power supply if it doesn't have one, and then buy a brand new PC to donate to charity, after asking them what specifications they would prefer.

If you can find a charity that will take it. We have something called Purple Elephant (locally) that takes them, but I remember having to ditch a perfectly working 17" monitor because no one would take it...Goodwill, Salvation Army...

I hate that people shun a CRT- the color is gorgeous on them. I know they are bulky and heavy, but I still have one! (2 if you count the old eMac)

I've been looking for an old monitor for a long time. I can't find one and you're forced to junk one... Argh!
