My OS is Vista. Very recently, upon receiving email notice from the Wrong Planet (topic reply notification), I get this novel message "Internet Explorer cannot open this Internet site <then WrongPlanet.net xxxxx module xxxxx > Operation aborted." Then Internet Explorer appears with a blank page, stating site is not found/displayed. Why?

I might ask an IT-oriented mod/admin, such as Quatermass. But do others get this message? Thanks!

You might try another browser such as Chrome or Firefox. I'm sorry I can't help you with Internet Explorer.

Internet Explorer is the devil. I suggest getting Chrome or Firefox, both are decent freeware browsers and Firefox is open-source.

I use IE and I've never seen that error message.

I sometimes use Firefox on campus but try not to because it messes the printers up and they start spitting out hundreds of blank pages and people get angry. My partner (who is a sysadmin) won't let me use Firefox at home because he says it's a security nightmare. I don't know the techy side of computers, so I just trust what he says and don't use it. After all, if something screws up on my computer, he is the one who will be fixing it and I don't want to hear, "I told you not to use Firefox!!"

I thought such a browser was a myth. Something that bad surely couldn't have existed? If it did, then it must have been a joke?

I'm surprised to see people use toy software still. Get a real browser

<hangs head in shame> Yes, my browser is shameful....sigh. However, it was the default choice & is (marginally) functional, hence Internet Explorer. Apparently not compatible with the Wrong Planet.

Does no one use Opera anymore? I used to use it and loved it but haven't had it since they started charging for it.

hmmmm.... I'll have to look it up, then. They were charging for it for a while but I haven't looked at it in years. Thanks.

Me too. This Internet Explorer message is new. Thank you all for the tips <checking-out opera> But refreshing the page works too.
