Has anyone heard of this competition?

http://www.highschoolcdc.com/

My boss has asked me to review the possibility of organizing a team. It is my understanding that it is very practical skill oriented, with very little theory (ie, they would learn about blocking ports, but not what a semiprime is).

Can anyone give me anymore details? Watching propaganda videos and reading the official pamphlet has left me wanting.

It's legit. Last year's teams had a blast.

You have it right: Competition is at a high level (not in the weeds). Teams of five block ports, reset passwords, etc. while being "attacked."

A lot of fun. First rounds are on-line. Winning teams get all expenses paid trips to finals in DC area.

Teams have to come from any high school (or approved home school), any Junior ROTC unit, or any Civil Air Patrol squadron.

Google cyberpatriot for more info.

Those "cyber patriots" could be government spies some day.
