I couldn't find a thread entirely devoted to speculative biology so I decided to make one.

Speculative biology is the art of creating creatures that could evolve in the future, on another planet, or in an alternte universe in which evolution has taken a different path. Many people who are interested in speculative biology take inspiration from Dougal Dixon.

One of my favorite creatures from speculative biology is the "marsupial monkey" from After Man: a Zoology of the Future by Dougal Dixon. Instead of a pouch it has pockets.

I am also fond of the megasquid from "The Future is Wild".

I design creatures frequently, when worldbuilding and creating constructed cultures/languages etc.
(Though obviously the cultural/language part is mainly for the more sapient creatures.

I usually create worlds filled with many various creatures, some sharing evolutionary resemblance with each other from common ancestors, as well as relations with other species and ecosystems of the world.
