UBUNTU panic SOS

I am experiencing the strangest trouble, i think I need to say with computing in general - and it's getting worse. But part of it is very much related with Ubuntu.
I never realized this before my late diagnosis; at least not in a way that was 'problematic' (which of course is also how one never discovers about one's autism).
There is much to say, and I think my trouble could be solved relatively easily - but I do need help - as at the moment I find myself totally lost, and caught ! ! in Ubuntu...
Even getting the regular online Help doesn't work for me... I cannot seem to find a way to process the deluge of options I am getting.
This has everything to do with the autism-related trouble referred to above: I cannot seem to visualize in my mind; therefore: all those text-based things... i cannot remember... because the moment I take my eyes off screen, I cannot picture the just seen information
and also, i cannot type without looking away from the keyboard... and that gets me into so much trouble
Sorry, I have much better ways of saying it...
I NEED HELP
but it MUST be by voice at least
first simple problem: why doesnt 'About Ubuntu' activate when clicked - I cannot even get the right help if I am not sure about my version... which
I CANNOT REMEMBER
because it never says what it is, this damn ubuntu... too many versions, to many choices, too many... too much all too much

somebody, please... TALK to me

At least in principle, I have a similar problem in Arch Linux.
I cannot seem to visualize in my mind; therefore: all those text-based things... i cannot remember... because the moment I take my eyes off screen, I cannot picture the just seen information
and also, i cannot type without looking away from the keyboard...
somebody, please... TALK to me
I think it not that we are "on our own" so much because other people do not care, but because they are still having similar problems themselves.

very unbloodylikely
judging by the general opinion -
especially ubuntu should have been the most easily operated for the beginner -
and sorry, if even getting the right symbols (Dutch keyboard) cannot even be FOUND (i got german, and the setting were totally incompatible with the required US/euro5 settings -
spent a bloody month not finding @ because that had mysteriously moved
(and dont even start to mention the appropriate app... it was useless - and had no other symbols than the letters, jeez kids wake up)
that is not even 'lacking' user-friendliness, that is damnright user-hatredorcontempt
why doesnt HELP activate when i click it
why has the volume control button mysteriously disappeared from the top panel
whatever happened to the mozilla-firefox icon on the top panel
why is it so incredibly hard to even get your customized setting to simply 'hold'
why do i need to open three or four places, to finally NOT succeed in getting the right monitor management
it's basic stuff
but it is so hampering, so annoying, so upsetting, that i end up not using all those brilliant options this system has to offer
i mean; LOOK: it's ALL right there
and it's all just out of grasp
it cannot possibly not be me
ubuntu is too popular for that
it cannot possibly be just me
but i feel i am literally losing my mind over this...
i am so scared

I can guarantee you will not have those kinds of troubles with Linux Mint. Mint 8 was the first distro I ever tried, and I have since replaced it with Mint 9 ... and that is my absolute favorite here on my machine with seven operating systems available.

thought of mint, like mandriva better at first sight
but as it is, i am simply stuck
there is one thing that keeps bugging me,
but it sounds to ridiculous to consider
(and totally off topic)
however... i can't seem te explain how basic and silly the things are i can't get control of
even my mouse... and that was an expensive one
as is the present (third) keyboard
it all really FEELS like in thin ice
the stuff you are talking about, that, in a way, is just basic computing trouble, and once you know your way around, it should get better
but somehow for me things keep getting worse
and the kind of stuff that goes wrong... i just cannot believe it
somehow i don't even get into the basic stuff,
it's not letting me
[[sorry, interrupted by something]] cant finish

see? ask a basic question... and... there we go
as for the volume button... not really important, can do without, can do with - the point was: if EVERY SINGLE THING becomes that laborious, why bother at all
so this is not really about separate little problems with millions of separate solutions (which in itself has become a MAIN problem by the way)
basically i think i would already be effectively helped and on my way i someone just together with me TALKS me through the entire basic set up - just to check really that there is nothing wrong or abnormal or whatever there... and i just know that bouncing observations off each other,
that will produce moments like ooooooooooooooooooooooooo
now i see... dang... how stupid was that,
but also, o wow (the 'coach') - never thought of that
however, i want to come back to my aborted post: there may just be something else, however ridiculous it might be...
and i have finally found the right words for an effective google...
The following is about a contentious condition, which i would never claim to 'suffer' from, but when writing the previous post I was about to mention how I have ALL MY LIFE had the strangest things happen 'to me' or maybe even 'around' me when using electric equipment
(this is in fact sort of documented - my brother used to demonstrate professional power tools, and we strongly agreed i really ought to be hired by the R&D dept, because if I could get along with any appliance, we would be sure anyone would... i am the ideal worst 'normal' user)
My remark about all kitchen equipment rushing for the nearest window the moment I opened the door and started climbing the stairs to my once apartment stems from decades before any psychiatric diagnosis (that only followed after being evicted, no, my life has not been a success story)
Now I just KNOW I have heard about - not so much people sensitive to electricity (which I am, extremely) - but in line with that: electrical equipment being affected by certain people...
(maybe you can see how the distinction was hard to google)
and I just did:
QUOTE:
Many electrically sensitive people seem to have quite dry skin and can carry high electrostatic charges on their body.
Not only can other people experience a 'zap' when touching the person, but the electrostatic charges can also be transferred to electronic equipment causing equipment to malfunction.
This can sometimes give an appearance of clumsiness or ineptitude, which can lead to a lack of confidence in using electrical equipment. This is quite concerning when young people, even in pre-school nurseries, are being exposed to computers, and they may develop this sensitivity, which can lead to a lifelong lack of confidence and self-esteem problems.
The 'zap' remark...
DANG
i can remember at least two instances of even an audible 'pang' when touching someone -
not really for this forum, i realize... but something tells me...
the stuff i am experiencing... it's just to silly
and still
sooo toootally debilitating :[[

Our friend here has an irrational and passionate hatred of Linux Mint. Similar to how some old-school Linux users have a blind hatred toward Ubuntu.
Joe: Mint is just a modified Ubuntu. It uses Ubuntu repos, and it has APT. It can authorize packages.
In regards to the recommendation to switch to Mint: don't bother, there's no real difference. Any problem you have in Ubuntu is almost certainly going to be there in Mint as well, and the issues you mentioned seemed to be GNOME-related. I don't really know what could be causing those problems, as I've never encountered any of them.

have been looking around, think mint would be better (because i do NEED flash and java) (o... and i need both actually PLAYING for a change)
tried downloading OpenSuse
look guys, i i cant even get a new LiveCD downloaded because the system is not allowing me to respond to the questions it's asking me itself...
is there really nobody out there i could actually TALK to???
other example:
downloaded Chromium (because i dont trus ff for an ffing second)
so why not try; start Chromium - which opens with only one tab: Getting Started with the bloody red Firefox icon, and yes im on a firefox page, in chromium
and thats all i can do
all the rest works exactly like the nonworking version i had before, but what the hell did firefox have to do with it
so... no java, at least not working
have the right commands
have the right stuff
and cannot even download an iso
please: skype me>: robert-o-blio
couldnt afford the landline anymore
