So it is running tiger and i tried to get on a website other then apple.com and the thing well try to load the site but wont do anything. Apparently te System Update program still works (barely), the iMail program also does the same thing when I tried to configure it to get my emails. I have it plugged into an ethernet connection and still it wont work, most of the time. Now on one the rare days that it did work I manage to download and installed openoffice to it. Then I tried Mozilla Seamonkey and Opera to replace the aging Safari it has. The Opera and Seamonkey.dmg files set up a disk when i tried to access it the desktop erfreashes and nothing happens. What should/can I do?

Run the Network Diagnostics app, see it can do anything for you.

Open a terminal and type 'ping -c3 www.google.com' without the quotes. What's the output?

Could be a firewall issue. There's probably something in System Preferences under the "Security" tab to manage your firewall settings.

Is there an HTTP proxy enabled in Network Preferences? Also, is your network connection set to request an IP address(DHCP) or do you need to manually intervene(manual)?

It might tell you under Network Preferences (should be somewhere in System Preferences)
